Waraqa asked: “What do you see?”

When the Prophet (peace be upon him) told him what had happened, Waraqa said:
“That is the same Namus (angel) whom Allah had sent to Musa (Moses).
If I live until the day you are sent (to the people), I will support you with all my power.”

Aaron returned the greeting saying, ‘Welcome, O pious brother and pious Prophet.’”

Chapter:24 The Statement of Allah Taa’la:

“And to Moses Allah spoke directly.”

Hadith 3394:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “On the night of my Ascension to Heaven, I saw the prophet Moses who was a thin person with lank hair, looking like one of the men of the tribe of Shanua; and I saw Jesus who was of average height with red face as if he had just come out of a bathroom. And I resemble prophet Abraham more than any of his offspring does. Then I was given two cups, one containing milk and the other wine. Gabriel said, ‘Drink whichever you like.’ I took the milk and drank it. Gabriel said, ‘You have accepted what is natural, (True Religion i.e. Islam) and if you had taken the wine, your followers would have gone astray.'”

Hadith 3395, 3396:

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “One should not say that I am better than Jonah (i.e. Yunus) bin Matta.” So, he mentioned his father Matta. The Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned the night of his Ascension and said, “The prophet Moses was brown, a tall person as if from the people of the tribe of Shanu’a. Jesus was a curly-haired man of moderate height.” He also mentioned Malik, the gate-keeper of the (Hell) Fire, and Ad-Dajjal.

Hadith 3397:

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to Medina, he found the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashura’ (the 10th of Muharram). They used to say: “This is a great day on which Allah saved Moses and drowned the folk of Pharaoh. Moses observed the fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allah.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “I am closer to Moses than they.” So, he observed the fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it.

“People will be struck unconscious on the Day of Resurrection, and I will be the first to regain consciousness. Behold! I will see Moses holding one of the pillars of Allah’s Throne. Chapter: 26 Torrential flood

Chapter: 27  The story of Al-Khidr with Musa (Moses) alayhis-salam

Hadith 3400

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: He had a disagreement with Al-Hur bin Qais Al-Fazari regarding the companion of Moses. Ibn Abbas said it was Al-Khadir. While they were disputing, Ubayy bin Kab passed by and Ibn `Abbas called him, saying, “My friend and I are differing about the companion of Moses, the one whom Moses asked the way to meet. Have you heard anything from Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) about this?”

Ubayy replied, “Yes, I heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) say:
‘While Moses was among the company of the Israelites, a man came and asked, “Do you know anyone who is more learned than you?” Moses replied, “No.” So Allah revealed to him that Our slave Khadir is more learned than you.’

Moses then asked how to meet him. He was given the sign of a fish and told that when the fish was lost, he would meet him there. Moses and his servant were traveling and the servant said, “Do you remember when we rested at the rock? I forgot the fish—and none but Satan made me forget to tell you about it.” Moses said, “That is what we were seeking.” So they both returned, following their footprints, and they found Khadir. What happened between them afterwards is mentioned by Allah in His Book.'”

Hadith 3401

Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: I said to Ibn `Abbas, “Nauf Al-Bukah claims that Moses, the companion of Al-Khadir, was not Moses (the Prophet) of the Children of Israel, but some other Moses.”

Ibn Abbas replied, "Allah's enemy (i.e. Nauf) has lied. Ubayy bin Kab told us that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Once Moses stood up and addressed the Children of Israel. He was asked, “Who is the most learned person among the people?” He replied, “I am.” So Allah admonished him, since he did not refer the knowledge back to Allah. Allah said to him, “Yes, at the junction of the two seas, there is a slave of Mine who is more learned than you.” Moses said, “O my Lord! How can I meet him?” Allah said, “Take a fish and put it in a basket; wherever you lose the fish, you will find him there.”

So Moses took a fish and placed it in a basket and set off along with his servant boy, Yusha` bin Noon. They reached a rock and rested there. Moses slept, and the fish got out of the basket and jumped into the sea. Allah held the flow of the water around the fish, and it formed a tunnel. Moses and his servant continued their journey for the rest of the night and the next day.

Later, Moses said to his servant, “Bring us our food. We have certainly become tired on this journey.” The servant said, “Do you remember when we rested at the rock? I forgot the fish. None but Satan made me forget to mention it. And it took its course into the sea in a strange way!” Moses said, “That is what we were seeking!” So they returned, retracing their footsteps, until they reached the rock.

There they found a man lying down covered with a garment. Moses greeted him. The man replied and said, “Who is this in our land greeting with peace?” Moses said, “I am Moses.” He asked, “Moses of Bani Israel?” Moses replied, “Yes, I have come to you so that you may teach me some of the knowledge which Allah has taught you.”

The man said, “O Moses! I have knowledge from Allah which He has taught me and which you do not know, and you have knowledge from Allah which He has taught you and which I do not know.” Moses asked, “May I follow you?” The man said, “But you will not be able to remain patient with me. And how can you be patient about something you do not understand?”

Moses said, “If Allah wills, you will find me patient, and I will not disobey you.” So they set out walking along the sea. A boat passed by them, and they asked to be taken on board. The crew recognized Al-Khadir and took them on board without charge.

While on board, a sparrow came and sat on the edge of the boat and dipped its beak into the sea. Al-Khadir said, “O Moses! My knowledge and your knowledge, compared to Allah’s knowledge, are no more than what this sparrow has taken from the sea with its beak.”

Then Al-Khadir took an adze and removed a plank from the boat. Moses said, “What have you done? They took us on board without charge, and yet you have made a hole in their boat to drown its people. You have certainly done something dreadful.”

Al-Khadir replied, “Did I not tell you that you would not be able to remain patient with me?” Moses said, “Do not blame me for what I forgot, and do not be hard upon me.”

Then they left the boat and passed by a boy playing with other boys. Al-Khadir took hold of the boy’s head and killed him. Moses said, “Have you killed an innocent soul who has killed no one? You have truly done a horrible thing.”

Al-Khadir replied, “Did I not tell you that you could not remain patient with me?” Moses said, “If I ask you anything after this, then do not keep me with you. You have received an excuse from me.”

They then continued until they came to a town where they asked the people for food, but they refused to host them. There they found a wall that was about to collapse. Al-Khadir repaired the wall. Moses said, “If you had wished, you could have taken a payment for it.”

Al-Khadir replied, “This is the parting between you and me. I will tell you the interpretation of what you could not remain patient with.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) added: “We wished that Moses had remained patient so that Allah would tell us more of their story.” Then he said, “May Allah have mercy on Moses! Had he remained patient, we would have learned more about their case.”

Hadith 3402

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
“Al-Khadir was named so because he sat over a barren white land, and it turned green with vegetation after he sat over it.”

Chapter: 28

Hadith 3403

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said,
“It was said to Bani Israel, ‘Enter the gate (of the town) with humility, prostrating yourselves, and saying: Repentance.’ But they changed the word and entered the town crawling on their buttocks and saying: ‘A wheat grain in the hair.'”

Hadith 3404

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
“The Prophet Moses was a shy person and used to cover his body completely due to his extreme modesty. One of the Children of Israel offended him by saying, ‘He only covers himself like that because of some skin defect—either leprosy, a hernia, or some other ailment.’

Allah wanted to clear Moses of what they had said about him. One day, while Moses was bathing in seclusion, he took off his clothes and placed them on a stone. As he was bathing, the stone took off with his clothes and ran away. Moses picked up his stick and chased after the stone, calling, ‘O stone! Give me my garment!’

He chased it until he reached a group from the Children of Israel who saw him naked and realized that he had no defect. He was, in fact, the best of what Allah had created. This cleared him of what they had falsely accused him of.

The stone stopped, and Moses retrieved his clothes and began striking the stone with his stick. By Allah, the stone still bears the marks of Moses’ blows—three, four, or five.

This is what Allah refers to in the verse: “O you who believe! Be not like those who annoyed Moses, but Allah cleared him of that which they alleged, and he was honorable in the Sight of Allah.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:69)

Hadith 3405

Narrated Abdullah: Once, the Prophet (peace be upon him) distributed something among his followers. A man commented, “This distribution has not been made seeking Allah’s pleasure.”

I went to inform the Prophet (peace be upon him) of what the man had said, and I saw the signs of anger on his face. Then he said,
“May Allah have mercy on Moses. He was harmed with more than this, yet he remained patient.”
